Dr. Rebecca Belt

Dr. Rebecca Belt is one of the clinical leaders in the Audiology Department at Nationwide Children's Hospital. She received both her Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Science and her Master of Arts in Audiology from The Ohio State University. She received her Doctor of Audiology from A.T. Still University-Arizona School of Health Sciences. She is currently a fellow member of the American Academy of Audiology. Her clinical interests include newborn hearing assessment, electrophysiology, and diagnostic evaluations.

ROBIN SHOUP WILSON

Introducing Robin Shoup Wilson our artist for the Wine and Canvas Endowment Event.

Ohio native, Robin Shoup Wilson has been drawing since the age of two. Art has taken Robin on quite a journey. Over the years , she has created hundreds of custom paintings and portraits, several local murals and even painted an old school bus for a Loudonville canoe livery.

Robin has had many solo art shows, including the Gone But Not Forgotten show featuring over 30 portraits of music legends. She also teaches art classes, hosts paint parties, and participates in many art festivals.

Her work can be seen in many private collections all over the United States from California to Florida.

"Although I have been doing this for a long time, I feel like I am just getting started. I have so much more that I want to do , including writing and illustrating children's books. I love a challenge".

Dr. Robert Murray

Dr. Robert Murray spent over 20 years in the field of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition in the Ohio State University School of Medicine. For 5 years, he served as the director of the Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition, offering medical and surgical treatments for child and adolescent obesity. Dr. Murray also was the pediatric medical director for Abbott Nutrition from 2003-2006. For over a decade Dr. Murray was an executive committee member of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Council on School Health, serving as chair in the final 4 years. He is an Executive Board member of Action for Healthy Kids as well as of the Children’s Hunger Alliance, and previously served on the Board of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation. Dr Murray is a past President of the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

TOM BURTON

Mr. Tom Burton, superintendent of Princeton City Schools, is a proven and dynamic school educator, well known and praised for his leadership. He believes that creating a collaborative environment with all stakeholders will help ensure that each child's needs are met. Serving as an educator since 1987 and at Princeton City Schools since 2015, Tom lives out the Princeton mission to empower each student for college, career, and life success. By being flexible, collaborative, and open to new learning, Tom feels we can truly inspire our students to be prepared for the real world and ensure that they make the world better than it is now.

The Northwest Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce recently bestowed Tom the Community Champion Award for 2021. Tom credits his colleagues and teammates for being recognized as Business Person of the Year by the Sharonville Chamber of Commerce, winner of NASSP/MetLife Ohio Middle School Principal of the Year, Distinguished Young Alumni Award from Slippery Rock University, recipient of the Gordon Vars Lifetime Achievement Award, and Ohio Educator of the Year by the Ohio Middle-Level Association. He was inducted into the Cleveland Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame and John Carroll University Athletic Hall of Fame (coach).

A published author and contributor to educational columns, Tom is currently working on two books. He is a sought-after speaker with recent engagements at the American Association of School Administrators, Institute for Education Innovation, National Superintendent's Forum, Harvard University, and others. Tom currently serves as a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland's Educational Advisory Council, the Northern Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, and Sharonville Cultural Arts Center boards.

JACK BERCKEMEYER

Jack Berckemeyer is a nationally-recognized presenter, author, and humorist who began his career as a middle school teacher in Denver, Colorado. After two years of teaching he was named as an outstanding educator at his school, and shortly thereafter he was identified as one of the outstanding educators in the district. In 2003, he received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Falcon School District. Jack brings his energy, humor, and expertise to all staff development as he helps teachers and administrators remember why this job makes a difference. Jack has presented in conference and school district settings both nationally and internationally. Jack served as a judge for the Disney American Teacher Awards and served on the selection committee for the USA TODAY All-Teacher Team.

Jack Berckemeyer is known for his motivating, practical ideas communicating a message of hope, laughter, and insight into education. Jack is the owner of the Nuts and Bolts Symposiums, a highly acclaimed, never boring conference that focuses on practical.

Jack lives in Denver, Colorado and has no pets or plants!

MARCY RODGERS

Marcy is a lifelong learner and a career educator who has found her home in the yoga studio where she sees abundant opportunities for curiosity and exploration. Having been a dancer, choreographer, and group exercise teacher, Marcy discovered that yoga is unique in its capacity to support the entire being. Marcy firmly believes that yoga can benefit everyone. She teaches alignment-based classes that are clear and approachable for all students while maintaining a warm atmosphere and leaving space for student self-exploration. She emphasizes the importance of self-acceptance and self-love on the mat and in life and encourages people to let their highly driven, competitive selves take a break. Some of her favorite moments are when participants share that they have found a new sense of relaxation and calm in their overworked and overstressed lives. Marcy has a B.A. in Spanish and Education and an M.A. in Bilingual and Multicultural Education and ESOL. Marcy is a registered 500-hour Yoga teacher and UZIT (formerly known as Urban Zen Integrative Therapist). She is also a Reiki practitioner and is certified in Thai Yoga Massage.

BETH WEINSTOCK

Beth Weinstock M.D. is a poet and physician from Columbus Ohio. A graduate of the OSU College of Medicine, Dr Weinstock is also a grieving mother and the founder of BirdieLight, an educational initiative, founded in honor of her son Eli, with the sole mission to educate young people about the dangers of fentanyl poisoning. LANE SHIRRELL (THEY/HE)

Lane Shirrell (they/he), Community Education and Research Manager: Lane graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in English and human rights. Lane leads the Ohio Thrives Needs Assessment that focuses on the intersections of race, developmental disabilities, and LGBTQ+ identities. In addition to Ohio Thrives, they also facilitate workshops for professionals caring for LGBTQ+ youth. He previously worked with Iowa Legal Aid on their Intimate Partner Violence Project and at the Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center. When not working, Lane loves to bake bread and go for long walks with his dog.

HEATHER WILDE, BSN, RN, SANE-A

Heather has been a registered nurse for 25 years. She worked primarily in the intensive care setting until becoming a Forensic Nurse Examiner over 5 years ago. She is currently the Coordinator of the Forensics Department at Mt. Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio. Heather is the Chair of the Ohio Attorney General's Human Trafficking Commission Healthcare Subcommittee. She serves as an active volunteer with Out of Darkness Columbus on the frontlines and is the lead of their medical team helping to educate healthcare personnel about those in the life of human trafficking. Heather has a passion to spread awareness to all frontline healthcare workers about the importance of trauma-informed care for those in the life of human trafficking as well as survivors

VANESSA PERKINS

Vanessa Perkins is the Workforce Development Program Manager for Freedom al a Cart providing workforce training and wrap-around services to help empower survivors/overcomers/thrivers of human trafficking to live happy, healthy, and self-sufficient lives. She has 10+ years experience working directly with survivors as well as being one. Vanessa is a survivor consultant with the honor of giving her expert opinion to agencies, government offices, legislators and law enforcement. Vanessa spent 3 years as the bailiff for Judge Paul Herbert who created the CATCH Court specialized docket in Franklin County Municipal Court for human trafficking victims. She has traveled to different states and all over Ohio sharing her experiences at different events. Vanessa has had the privilege of speaking at the EVAWA Conference, the Chambers of Commerce in Washington D.C., Eat Up Columbus, has testified at the State House. Vanessa has worked closely with many entities to fight the fight to end human trafficking such as the Attorney General’s Office, senators, governors, abolitionists, schools, churches, police departments, sheriff departments, courts etc.

Although there has been much healing and a ton of gratitude from Vanessa, having been a victim of human trafficking has its negative consequences and long lasting effects. It has been 13 years since Vanessa has been trafficked yet she still has hard days induced by triggers from her past. This doesn’t define her, but it is a hard truth. PTSD, nightmares, abandonment fears, imposter syndrome, hypervigilance, depression, anxiety are just a few symptoms that lots of survivors battle daily.

Vanessa has a loving family and is excited about life in general. Her favorite things are riding her bike, sitting outside in the sun, throwing a frisbee and playing euchre with friends. And at the risk of sounding like a dating app profile, two of her favorite quotes are “if they are still breathing, there is still hope,” and “there is always a solution.”

Kate King

Kate King (DNP, MS, RN, LSN) has practiced School Nursing for 22 years. She received a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Otterbein University in 2019 and is currently working as a school nurse at World Language Middle School for Columbus City Schools. Dr. King is a strong advocate for supporting School Health Services through practice and legislation, creating Voice in School Nurses, and promoting and providing health care to children.

Dr. King has clinical experience in Adolescent and Community Mental Health. Her professional interests focus on increasing self-efficacy in School Nurses and Mental Health for school-aged children.

She currently serves as the President elect of the National Association of School Nurses, is the immediate Past President of the Ohio School Health Services Association, a founder of the Big 8+ Health and Safety Coalition and is a past Director for NASN and OASN.

KATHARINE CLAYTON

Katharine Clayton serves as the Director of Public School Safety at the Butler County Educational Service Center for the past six years. Ms. Clayton works extensively with school administrators and community partners on an all hazards emergency management program. In her position, she endures the maintenance of plan development, coordinates training and exercise programs and focuses on furthering school preparedness, planning, response and recovery.

Ms. Clayton has worked extensively with Districts and Schools on Threat Assessment Teams and Threat Assessment training. In 2022, she became a certified instructor for threat assessment teams though the Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) by Dr. Dewey Cornell from the University of Virginia. She has since trained over twenty-five schools districts and individual schools in Southwest Ohio. She began her public service in Emergency Management in 2009 at Kenton County (KY) Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency while working on her Master’s Degree in Public Administration. While working as the Emergency Planner for Butler County Emergency Management Agency, she worked with schools on creating strong emergency management plans. During this time, she trained as the Public Information Officer for the State of Ohio | Butler County All Hazards Incident Management Team who has deployed for several state and national disasters.

Prior to her current position, she was the Assistant Director at the Hamilton County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. In 2016, Ms. Clayton began working for Butler County ESC dedicated to assisting districts and schools in creating a comprehensive school emergency management programs.

FELICE KASSOY, PHD, LPC, LSC

Dr. Felice Kassoy (she/her) is a Licensed School Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has been in the field of education since 1978. She has spent the last 43 years in both public and independent schools.

As a classroom teacher, school counselor, and coach, Dr. Kassoy has focused on her students' social and emotional development and the strength of their families, along with the well-being of her colleagues. Doing this important work through a lens of social justice, Dr. Kassoy is a fierce advocate for creating equitable and inclusive schools for all.

After receiving her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from The Ohio State University in 2013, Dr. Kassoy returned to her alma mater as an adjunct professor. In addition, she teaches classes at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio.

When Dr. Kassoy isn’t passionately sharing her knowledge and experience with children and other educators, she is outdoors enjoying nature with her children and grandchildren.

DASH

DASH (Diabetes And School Health) is a school based health equity program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The goal of the program is to provide extra support to patients, families and school staff managing the care of Type 1 Diabetes, specifically those who are vulnerable to complications. DASH is an enhanced care-coordination program that facilitates communication between the schools, families and their entire health care team. Our team consists of medical directors, Dr. Gandhi and Dr. Wood, an advanced nurse practitioner, Amy Moffett, two diabetes nurse educators, Katy Simms and Becca Cline and a pharmacy technician, Adrean Jones. We work with schools to provide additional access and care for students with Type 1 Diabetes by offering diabetes education for the student and school staff, on-site clinical care, psychosocial support, coordination of care, and prescription delivery to home and school.

The goal of DASH is to improve health outcomes by empowering our students to effectively self-manage their diabetes and improve self-efficacy. The program also aims to provide school staff with resources, tools and education regarding diabetes care. DASH is currently in the second academic year of operation, and there are currently 72 patients enrolled in 51 schools within 10 different districts in central Ohio.

DR. JACLYN WETLI, MD, FAAD

Dr. Jaclyn Wetli, MD, FAAD, is a board certified dermatologist. She enjoys helping patients of all ages, from children and teenagers to adults and seniors, and is passionate about skin cancer prevention and education. A former competitive figure skater, Dr. Wetli is known for her precision and attention to every detail. She chose to specialize in dermatology to promote health and wellness in a very visual field and positively impact patients inside and out. A native of Ohio, Dr. Wetli did her undergraduate studies at John Carroll University, where she had a double major in Biochemistry and Cell Molecular Biology and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

She received her medical training at the Boonshoft School of Medicine at WSU. She then completed her dermatology residency through Wright State University and was named Chief Resident. During her residency, she participated in different clinical trials studying therapeutic options for psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.

Dr. Wetli has published in JAAD, Dermatologic Surgery, Cutis, and the American Journal of Dermatopathology. She has given numerous presentations at the Ohio Dermatology Annual meetings and gave a highly regarded podium poster presentation at the 2019 American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Wetli currently works at CAPS Dermatology in Upper Arlington.
