WHO IS OASN?
The Ohio Association of School Nurses (OASN) is the professional association for registered nurses and other health professionals with a specialization in school nursing and school health services. We welcome all nurses working in unique schools, districts and communities to join us as we increase our knowledge of best practices, increase our leadership and advocacy skills, and meet with partners who support the health of our students.

The Ohio Association of School Nurses promotes optimal wellness among Ohio's school children and their communities by supporting their educational success & providing leadership, education & support for the practice of school nursing.
This Nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by Maryland Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Dr. Stephen Sroka
The Power of One and The Power of Many: School Nursing is about Building Relationships and Making our Future Brighter
Trusted relationships may be the most important variable for effective school nursing. This motivational keynote is filled with "tips from the school nurse offices" to help keep you and your students, staff and community safe and healthy so they can learn more and live better.
Research-based and reality-driven, this session offers honesty, humor, and hope. Steve has taught the school nurse program at the college level and has keynoted school nursing conferences across the country and internationally. He recently keynoted the National Association of School Nurses Conference in Orlando.
He has traveled the world striving to reach, elevate and inspire with The Power of One message, how one person can make a difference. Steve died while presenting a school in-service. A principal, two SROs and others saved his life and changed his message. He now talks about how you need The Power of Many, how it takes a team, to make a lasting difference. He believes that one person can make a lasting difference with the power of many, and that is his WHY.

NASN PRESIDENT
Kate King, DNP, M.S., RN, LSN
Kate King DNP, MS, RN, LSN is currently a School Nurse at World Language Middle School for Columbus City Schools, the largest school district in the state of Ohio. She also serves as the President of the Ohio School Health Services Association.
Her background includes specialty areas of community health and adolescent psychiatric nursing and school health legislation. She has been active in her regional and state School Nurse Associations. Her doctoral work focused on Creating Voice in School Nurses through Increasing Self Efficacy. Dr. King is passionate about providing equitable health care for children in schools through collaboration, evidence-based practice and providing school nurses with the support and tools to serve as health care experts.
